The relationship between parent empathy and life satisfaction of adolescents double mediating effects of peer attachment and social self-efficacy: Focusing on the Corona 19 situation

Abstract

|
This study was to examine the double mediating effect of peer attachment, and social self-efficacy on adolescents' perceived parental empathy and life satisfaction. The subjects of the study were 648 students from the first year of junior high school to the second year of high school 3. Using the SPSS 28.0 program for analysis of the collected material, double mediation was performed through the PROCESS Macro for SPSS(ver.4.0) program.
There were findings. First, parent empathy, peer attachment, and social self-efficacy were positively and significantly correlated with life satisfaction. Second, parent empathy has a positive effect on life satisfaction. In the relationship between parent empathy and life satisfaction, peer attachment and social self-efficacy were double-mediated. This study is significant in that it showed the importance of parental empathy, furthermore, the importance of peer attachment, and social self-efficacy in adolescents' life satisfaction.
